• Ajoka has prepared its three year plan for 2012-2014 which includes theatre festivals, publications and grand plans for its 30th anniversary in 2014.
• Ajoka has been given the prestigious Otto Rene Castillo Award for Political Theatre 2012. The announcement has been made by the Castillo Theatre, New York . The award will be presented in a special ceremony to be held in New York in May 2012.
• Ajoka has been invited to perform its “Mera Rang Day Basanti Chola” at the Bharat Rang Mahotsav in January 2012. This international festival is organized by National School of Drama, New Delhi and this is the seventh time that Ajoka has been invited to perform, a record for a foreign group.
• Ajoka’s Executive Director Shahid Nadeem held a workshop for the participants of the International Youth Conference held at the Pak China Friendship Centre, Islamabad on 20 October 2011. The topic of his talk was “Theatre of Resistance”.
• Ajoka’s Artstic Director Madeeha Gauhar visited Bangladesh in July to attend a South Asian Women’s (SWAN) Conference. She also discussed an Indo-Pak-Bangladesh theatrical collaboration. She visited Nepal for a consultative meeting in connection with a women’s summit in 2012.
• Ajoka held a theatre training workshop for newcomers in July 2011 at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan auditorium. The workshop was conducted by Shahid Nadeem, Madeeha Gauhar and Fazal Abbas Faizi and attended by over 2o people. The 5-day workshop included lectures on script writing, theatre for social change, theatre and music, theatre and dance and various theatre games and exercises. The participants also attended a one-day workshop by American director/trainer Allen Neuse.
• Ajoka condoles the passing away of two of its dear friends: Roshan Dhanjibhoy, activist, film-maker and ex-regional head of Heinrich Boll Foundation, and Sardar Gursharan Singh, veteran Punjabi revolutionary theatre activist.
